ACTIVITY: COPYING A MASTERPIECE
Drop into the Oddie Gallery to see how a classically trained artist learns from the Old Masters.
Copying the work of Old Masters is a well-established tradition for classical artists. Artist Troy Argyros is an oil painter who trained at The Florence Academy of Art in Italy. He draws inspiration from classical models to refine his technique and skills. He started this ambitious scale copy of Solomon J Solomon’s 1886 epic masterpiece Ajax and Cassandra in 2021 and is now filling in the final details.
Argyros will be working in the Gallery on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays but his work will be left in place on most other days so you can check on his progress.
