HERITAGE FESTIVAL EVENT: AN EVENING WITH JOANNA MENDELSSOHN

Distinguished art historian Joanna Mendelssohn is Australia’s leading expert on the Lindsay family of Creswick. She is the author of two books on Lionel Lindsay’s prints and wrote an acclaimed biography of the artist in 1988.

She later revisited the mythology of the Lindsay family in the book Letters and Liars: Norman Lindsay and the Lindsay family, using previously unavailable letters and manuscript material to uncover the tangle of personalities within the members of this extraordinary family. She has also curated a number of exhibitions including Lionel’s Place, on show at the Gallery from 21 May.

This conversation between Mendelssohn and Gallery Director Louise Tegart provides an opportunity to hear more about the Lindsay family and their intriguing stories.
