ARTIST TALK: DAVID MOORE: ECHOES OF MELDRUM

Artist David Moore grew up in an artistic environment and was taught to paint directly from life, studying under William Dargie and Harley Griffiths. He later had a studio at the Montsalvat artist colony established by Tonalist artist Justus Jorgensen.

Moore paints still lifes and landscapes from life, using traditional methods but applied in his own unique way. In this illustrated talk, he talks about how the approach of Meldrum and his followers has influenced the work of contemporary artists in Australia.
