CONCERT: NAT BARTSCH’S LULLABIES

Bring your young child to a special piano performance of music designed to be enjoyable for both children and parents.

Melbourne pianist and composer Nat Bartsch believes that if parents are calm, their small children are also more likely to be calm, so in 2017, when she became a mother, she channeled her creativity into the creation of lullabies.

Drawing on music therapy research, she created a series of compositions to encourage relaxation in babies – using devices such as simple melodies, gentle sounds, repetitive patterns, and tempos similar to a mother’s heartbeat.

Bartsch’s album Forever, and No Time At All (released on ABC Music) has been used with great success to create an environment to assist in babies’ sleep routines. It has also extended far beyond its original purpose – it has been played during childbirth and during the final hours of a person’s life and to support people with grief, autism, dementia, PTSD and depression.

Tickets: Free event but numbers strictly limited. Book now at the Gallery website.

Please note: Ticketed events and workshops will only proceed if enough tickets are sold and provided COVID restrictions allow for them to proceed.
