THE FACE OF CASSANDRA
BALLARAT HERITAGE FESTIVAL TALK
In 2021, artist Troy Argyros started painting a scale copy of the Solomon J Solomon’s masterpiece Ajax and Cassandra from the Gallery Collection. While completing his studies at the Florence Academy of Art, he was inspired by the figure of the Trojan priestess being dragged from the temple altar to create a new work, which gives Cassandra a face.
Join us to meet Argyros as he describes the process of copying the work, his training in Florence and his new work which he has called The Oracle.
