YOUNG ARCHIES

While the Archibald Prize is on the walls in the Art Gallery of Ballarat, the Ballarat CBD will be transformed into a portrait gallery, with portraits by local school children going up in shop windows across the city. The Young Archies project is designed to educate and encourage local children about portraiture, to extend the impact of the Archibald Prize across the city, and to celebrate the vibrant and supportive community. The project is backed up by a swag of prizes supplied by ANZ Bank and local organisations.

CHILDREN’S PORTRAIT PRIZE

Nearly 4,500 school students from nearly 50 schools across western Victoria, as far out as Horsham, have entered the competition. More than 100 businesses are participating in the shop window display.
