ARIA-nominated trio Latitude 37 brings the Baroque to life with their trademark warmth and flair in two very special concerts in the stunning acoustic of the Art Gallery of Ballarat.
Joined by superb guest artist Simon Martyn-Ellis (theorbo), baroque specialist trio Latitude 37 delves into the world of Johann Hieronymous Kapsberger. One of the most inventive and feted lutenists of all time, his works spanned many genres and represent some of the most lovely and evocative music to come out of Italy in the early 17th century. Music by Kapsberger, Marini and Castaldi.
LATITUDE 37 are Julia Fredersdorff (baroque violin), Laura Vaughan (viola da gamba) and Donald Nicolson (harpsichord), an exciting baroque trio whose members were drawn together by their passion for historically informed performance of 17th and 18th century music. The distinctive combination of instruments opens up a wealth of repertoire that is rarely explored by other Australian ensembles.
